One morning I woke up with the words and melody of "knocking down the door" ringing in my ears. I grabbed my iPhone beside my bed and used its voice memo recorder to sing the garbled lyrics into it in my morning voice. That was the start of it. I didn't take too much time to getting down and recording my ideas onto my multi-track system. I felt that the lyrics that came to me in my sleep were there because they must be important. So I treated the song that way and really got into it.

They kicked us around, but they didn’t know us

We were imperiled and insulted
We acted calm, but we were aghast!
