This song took quite a long time to record. There were a lot of details that I wanted to get right. Just when I thought it was finished, I started to question a few things. One of my 'problems' with the song was that it seemed like something new had to happen in the second half of the J.S. Bach quote in the middle instrumental section. Jamie Philp had already played quite a few guitar parts on an earlier session, and I asked him to come back and try something in the way of a lead part over top of the Bach section. I wasn't even sure that was what I really wanted . . . I can be pretty particular when it comes to my own tunes. Jamie tried a couple things, then I asked him if maybe he could try something an octave lower. What we got was what you hear. Man! I just love Jamie's guitar playing and that line is supremely perfect!

About the song . . . When I was writing this and singing "Just what the world needs . . . love, brothers and sisters," I was thinking of that wonderful Bacharach/David song "What The World Needs Now Is Love". Jackie DeShannon did the version I like best, and when she sang 'what the world needs now is love, sweet love' all those years ago, we believed that was the answer. Now here we are in 2017 and we're still looking for it.
